Halfway through, 700,000 galaxies done
We’re now 50 hours into the 100 hours of astronomy, and we’re well on course to hit Galaxy Zoo’s target of a million galaxies in 100 hours. The Zoonometer &trade clicked over 700,000 galaxies this morning which is an incredible response to our call – but not yet good enough!
Keep clicking to get us over the line…
we want a countdown! ๐
I wonder what’s the combined computational speed we harnessed? Could we be running somewhere around 10 teraflops, 10 trillion teraflops?
I have got an idea! let’s not stop when we reach 1 million. We can carry on until the time is up and see how many galaxies can we classify in 100 hours.

I guess the counter will stop at 1,000,000. But the team should be able to tell us how many we got clasified over the 100 hours I assume? I think we can get 2,000,000 done. Aslong as people don’t stop trying after we hit 1 mil.
Not good enough?! Cheeky ๐ ๐
Hey people,
We are almost at the 1 million only a few hours ahaid.
We are almost there just 250 galaxies to go.
Now 30 to go!!!
Yes at 11:45 we made the 1.000.000!!
woo-hoo….+ 1,000,000!
Congratulations guys. we made it. its now over 1,000,000 classifications and its not yet 100hrs
It is so interesting,i want a coundown too.
Excellent work everyone.
I love this whole concept and project. It has been thrilling to hear hard results published (after the first survey) and know I have contributed in a small way. Can’t wait to hear results from this survey. Congratulations to the organizers and all participants.
will this be guinness world record worthy? i think it is. someone needs to make a call!
